The Showcase Magazine - Salutes

“Elegance and style are not about standing out, but about being remembered.”

A great tailoring experience is about both fashion and hospitality. At Coto's Tailor Shop, located in Stirling, they ensure that you feel great in your personalized clothes and are completely satisfied with the services they provide.

The family-owned and operated businesses consist of Owner and Master Tailor David Coto, his wife Edith, who is their seamstress, and son Emill, who is the shop's Assistant. The Cotos have nearly 40 years of experience in the industry, having studied and trained as tailors under the guidance of their parents. While growing up in Honduras, David desired to learn the process of alterations from the surrounding community of his family who were all tailors. In 2012, the Cotos went from working for other people to becoming small business owners when they opened their first location in Basking Ridge. In 2018, they took over the Stirling storefront from their friend Walter Malik to carry on his 30-year legacy, opening their second location.

Country Tailors & Coto's Tailor Shop can provide expert alterations on any garments for men and women. They specialize in technical tailoring, entirely custom-made suits and shirts, dress alterations, and bespoke tailoring. “I take great pride in my ability to provide personally stylized clothing for all of my clients. My hands-on technique ensures a perfect fit every time. Each garment is meticulously cut, sewn, and finished to fit comfortably, wear well, and look great,” says David.

Both locations also provide tuxedo rentals for formal events such as weddings, prom, Sweet 16s, or quinceaneras. From tuxedo accessories to mix-and-match sizing, the shop can provide you and members of your party with all the formal-wear required for any event. Their inventory includes Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, Ralph Lauren, and more. Pricing is highly competitive with any warehouse or wholesale distributor. Tuxedo rentals appointments must be made four days ahead to ensure access to the rental, rent-to-buy, or simply buy catalog options.

Whether a job is large or small, from leather to outdoor wear to fine fabrics, Country Tailors & Coto's Tailor Shop welcomes all consumers from the neighboring communities to experience their alterations. “We are passionate about building long-term relationships with our clients through our skilled and knowledgeable staff. We achieve this by providing an extraordinary client experience and excellent customer service in a relaxing environment,” says David.

Emill also ensures quality customer experience. “We take the time to see how we can help anyone that walks through the door. If a customer brings something in an emergency, we can get things done within a day. We also always have time set up to take care of people who wait till the last minute.”

The typical turnaround time for Country Tailors & Coto's Tailor Shop is five days. “We like to make everyone feel comfortable about their experience and to ensure that they aren’t anxious about pricing, our availability, or turnaround time,” says Emill. Depending on the number of items a customer needs to be altered, the in-shop experience should take between 20-30 minutes. Dry cleaning is also available with a 4-5-day turnaround time.
