Biagio’s Bakery & Deli Instagram posts reflect Biagio’s amazing products, but you never get to hear about the man behind the scenes!

Meet Biagio Iuliano. Biagio grew up in a small urban town called Pagani, located in the province of Salerno, in Italy. He is the oldest of three boys and his passion for baking started at the age of 10! At 14, Biagio started his own little side hustle business. He started making homemade bomboloni and croissants and would ride around town on his bicycle selling his delicious treats to the locals. As Biagio got older, he briefly served in the Italian military cooking personally for a high level General. He has always been so talented, whether he’s cooking or baking, but his passion is making people happy through his creations!

Biagio always aspired of one day owning his own bakery. Moving to America and living the American Dream but he didn’t quite have the money to do so. Yet fate is a powerful thing. After his military commitment was over, he returned home and soon after he met a beautiful American woman named Carmela. She happened to

be vacationing in a nearby town, visiting her family, and the two met through mutual friends. They fell madly in love and after a couple years of a long-distance romance Biagio finally seized the opportunity and moved to America.

His journey and hardships started 3 days after moving to the US. He was at a disadvantage because he did not speak English, nor did he have a driver’s license. Luckily, he found a pizzeria in walking distance of their home where the owners were from Italy as well. They just so happened to be looking to fill a pastry chef position and little did they know, they just hired a hidden gem!

As the years passed his experience working in different food establishments grew immensely and with Biagio’s drive and perseverance he finally opened his first wholesale bakery. He delivered fresh baked breads daily to local restaurants. After 8 years of operating his wholesale business his true dream came to fruition! In 2011 he opened Biagio’s Italian Gourmet Specialties in Stirling, where he creates his wonderful pastries and lunch offerings. In 2013 Biagio included a dinner menu. With long lines of customers outside the door, in 2017 he expanded again and opened Trattoria Biagio, an upscale BYOB restaurant, right next door.

When entering Biagio’s Italian Bakery and Deli you may just decide to have dessert before dinner. There is a display of desserts that will make anyone with a sweet tooth want to rejoice. Napoleons, cannoli, Italian cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, and more are there to greet you. You can walk just a couple of steps and a door will bring you to the dining room of their new restaurant, Trattoria Biagio.

The menu is filled with a variety of mouth-watering dishes, starting with appetizers such as Clams in a White Wine sauce and Mussels in Red Sauce.

Their entrées, including Chicken Francese, literally melt in your mouth. Other traditional Italian favorites, including Lasagna, Rigatoni Bolognese, Penne con Vodka, along with Pork Chop Giambotta, Ossobuco di Maiale, Black Sea Bass Del Giorno, and a Zucchini Parmigiana with Penne Marinara, are on the menu. Since the restaurant focuses on seasonal ingredients for freshness dishes may change depending on the time of year.

Biagio’s dream of coming to America and being a successful restaurant owner has indeed come true. He is truly inspiring!
