Publisher's Showcase

Happy New Year everyone! As I sit here thinking about writing February’s Publisher’s Showcase, I realize how lucky we are to live in a community that is so supportive of LOCAL organizations, our schools and businesses.

We begin the new year with the February issue full of your favorite columns, features and articles as well as new and returning advertisers. Inside, you will find LOCAL shops, boutiques and restaurants, as well as a variety of many LOCAL businesses and professionals. Use this issue as your winter guide to all your Valentine’s Day and holiday needs as you keep in mind to support LOCAL businesses and SHOP LOCAL!

The Showcase’s Dining & Shopping and Health & Beauty Sections are filled with businesses ready to help you plan that perfect Valentine’s Day and weekend! We feature LOCAL restaurants, boutiques, retailers, salons, spas and much more to help you plan a day for that “special someone!”

Here at The Showcase Magazine, we devote ourselves to celebrating our community and promoting our LOCAL businesses. Community and businesses come together in this issue and you will find extraordinary people and companies offering hot deals in this cold weather.

The February front cover Showcases “Red Barn,” a painting by Westfield resident Linnea W. Rhodes. This painting conjures up snowy winter visions of LOCAL landmarks past and present and images of winter fun!

We have Showcased 5 advertisers with Showcase Salutes; please take the time to read all about these businesses and their success stories. Featured salutes include The Center for Intrapersonal Wellness, The Chelsea at Warren, Johnson Fitness & Wellness, Pamela Anevski Law Office and Warren Smile Center. On page 28, you can enjoy the Winter Word Find and have a chance at winning a $25 gift card to The Jewelry Store at Martinsville. Just solve it, fax it in and it’s that easy to win!

In the spirit of Giving Back, The Showcase Magazine continued to donate in 2017. To view a list of organizations that we have helped support, visit our website at www.theshowcasemagazine.net and click on the Giving Back tab. Looking for a way to give back? The Giving Back Column on page 44 Showcases 3 organizations looking for donations and time. The Community Chatter, on pages 30-31, highlight local businesses giving back.

The Showcase is available ON-LINE at www.theshowcasemagazine.net. In addition, you can scan our QR code on page 6 to take you to our website. Follow us on Twitter & Instagram @TheShowcaseMag and friend us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/TheShowcaseMagazine. This allows our advertisers to increase their visibility and helps to promote their services and goods.

Our ON-LINE Business Guide is bigger and better than ever with over 100 businesses and new additions joining every day! Just go to www.theshowcasemagazine.net and click on Business Guide. You will find categories to make it easy to navigate and find exactly what you are looking for. Can’t find it? As always, we would like to thank our readers and advertisers for supporting us and the businesses and professionals of The Showcase Magazine who make it possible for us to give back to the community for the past 21 years! We urge you to SHOP SMART & SHOP LOCAL!

Patti and I, and The Showcase staff wish you and your families many Blessings, Peace, Health and Happiness throughout the New Year!

Great Getaways: Maui Magic

There are many things that are synonymous with Hawaii like pineapples, mai tais, and hula dancing. You can also add Maui to that list. Despite each island having their own stunning vistas and personality, there is just something about Maui that evokes postcard images. Stunning sunsets that dip below the neighboring islands in the far-off distance and a cool laid-back vibe make up this paradise.

There are two main resort areas that are worth considering staying in: Ka’anapali and Wailea. On a recent girls’ trip, my friend and I chose to stay in Ka’anapali so that we could be close Lahaina, a historic fishing village with quaint shops and restaurants. Having come off a week of touring around O`ahu and driving everywhere...

Simply Entertaining: Themed Movie Night In

I don’t know about you, but the freezing temperatures and crazy wind chill has made it very difficult for me to want to leave my house. The amount of effort that needs to go into layering, staying bundled, and even figuring out what to do, is difficult. I can’t imagine how much harder it probably even is with children! That’s why I’m suggesting a movie party for this winter’s event. You can have one, you can have seven, but either way, you can be social from the comfort of your warm, cozy home.
