Who doesn’t like plants and flowers? They’re nice to look at, good for the environment, and have the ability to make your surroundings stand out from the rest. However, it’s important to know which plants and flowers are right for your residential or commercial property, where to put them, and what you need to make them flourish.
Dean’s Greens in Berkeley Heights, with its 10,000 square foot garden center on 4.5 acres, is a full-service operation that has the products and knowledge to make and keep your grounds looking beautiful all year long. Along with flowers and plants, they have everything customers would need for their lawns and gardens, whether big or small, such as stones, fertilizers, soil, mulch, grass seed, and planters. Not only is Dean’s Greens a garden center and nursery, but also your go-to place for landscaping and hardscaping (including commercial and residential construction for sidewalks, driveways and retaining walls). They also provide irrigation services whereby they can install and maintain sprinkler systems. In addition, they have an on-staff designer who can create the ideal look for your property free of charge. As of seven years ago, they've had a florist on hand in their flower shop, where you can find fresh and lovely arrangements in vases and baskets for all occasions, plus a garden gift boutique. They even deliver! And best of all, Dean's Greens is a family-owned business. As stated on their website, they are “devoted to bringing only the finest quality materials and services to [their] clients.”
As soon as you pull into their parking lot, you can see rows and rows of flowers, plants and trees. The fuchsia, petunias and geraniums are lush and colorful, the herbs, such as rosemary and parsley, are fragrant and full, and the vegetables plants such as the Brussels sprouts, eggplant, lettuce and peppers are all ready for your garden. And the tall Oak Leaf Red Holly and other trees are healthy and vibrant.
Dean’s Greens has friendly and helpful employees on hand to answer all of your gardening and landscaping questions. Nadine says, “The main ingredient that I subscribe to is treating customers as I wish to be treated with the utmost respect and kindness.” She and her husband Bob also feel that it’s important to give back to their community and help support their local churches, schools, police, fire and EMT services, as well as non-profits such as the Autism Foundation of N.J. and area Boy Scout troops.
Nadine was a speech and language pathologist for 42 years in the Berkeley Heights school system, while Bob was a national sales manager for Pitney Bowes. They had both been retired for a few years when they decided to move on to this new chapter of their lives. Even though they have expanded so much over the years, they look forward to continuing to do so for the sake of their employees and customers.
