Giovanna’s Restaurant prides themselves on providing food and customer service that turns customers into friends, and friends into family. The restaurant has been serving up Northern Italian style cuisine to their loyal customers for 35 years. Whether it’s the fresh seafood or homemade salad dressing, customers come back for many generations teaching their kids and their kid’s kids that dining is done best at Giovanna’s.

In addition to decades of loyal customers, Giovanna’s Restaurant also has a staff that has been a part of their restaurant since day one! “Most of our staff has been here for over 25 years,” says Jennifer Thul, who oversees the restaurant’s daily operations.

Located in Plainfield, the restaurant was originally a drive through pasta place called The Pasta Shoppe! In 1979 the owner, Giovanna Caruso, converted a former bank into a kitchen space. With no previous business experience or formal culinary training, Caruso, her mother, and her sister began making fresh pasta daily. The Pasta Shoppe became such a success, that they decided to expand when a liquor license became available in town. The Pasta Shoppe transitioned officially into Giovanna’s Restaurant in 1983 after a major expansion built by Giovanna’s husband Carmen. The original kitchen remains the same!

Founded by family, Giovanna’s Restaurant is the perfect place to host an event. Whether a wedding, birthday bash, anniversary party, bridal or baby shower, bar or bat mitzvahs, rehearsal dinners, or any special occasion, “At Giovanna's you won't have to worry about an assembly line staff rushing you through your special day. At Giovanna's, you can enjoy a quiet intimate affair or a lavish celebration, and know our place is yours, and your affair our main focus,” says Thul. They specialize in small affairs for 25 to 100 people.

While Giovanna brings a family friendly dining ambiance, you'll also enjoy eating the finest Italian cuisine. Their extensive menu and reasonable prices are what keeps customers coming back. “In addition to our Italian specialties, we have seafood delivered daily. We like to cook fresh and we make our own salad dressings all homemade,” says Jennifer. Customers continue to come specifically for Giovanna’s marinated onions that pair with the Gorgonzola salad. The menu also includes sandwiches, salads, pasta, soups, steaks and chops, and an array of traditional Italian entrées. Their homemade Tartufo dessert is the perfect finale to complete the meal. Giovanna’s also offers a children’s menu.

The main dining room can accommodate up to 90 people on a Saturday afternoon or anytime on a Sunday. However, Giovanna’s Restaurant is also happy to accommodate the lives of a busy family who are on the go! Giovanna’s has “TO-GO Busy Family Dinners” specials including Pasta & Meatballs, Ravioli & Meatballs, Chicken (Murphy, Francaise, Parmigiana or Marsala) or Pasta & Shrimp. The meals can feed four to six people. To make a to-go order, customers can call ahead and pick up a complete dinner- including entrée, salad, and bread just fifteen minutes later!
