After 24 years of marriage and recently becoming empty nesters, Daniel and Kimberly DiDonato were ready for a new chapter. Their shared love of travel and connection led them to launch The Seagate, Grace Bay Residences in November 2023, a business inspired by their desire to create a space where guests could feel both relaxed and cared for.
“We started the business driven by our love for travel and hospitality,” says Kimberly. “After years of exploring new places and enjoying meaningful connections, we felt inspired to create a space where guests feel both cared for and at home.”
That inspiration took root in Turks and Caicos, a destination that offers year-round sunshine, postcard-worthy beaches, and a strong sense of community. With Grace Bay Beach just steps away and the island only about a three-hour flight from Newark Airport, the location offered the ideal mix of accessibility and luxurious escape.
The DiDonatos bring a complementary mix of experience to their new venture. Daniel has run a cold storage business for 35 years, while Kimberly was a special needs school teacher. Together, they blend operational expertise with a deep understanding of service and hospitality.
Their passion for creating meaningful experiences extends beyond travel. In August 2024, they co-founded Azzurri Italian Cucina in Harvey Cedars, New Jersey, alongside four lifelong friends. The modern Italian restaurant quickly became a favorite for locals and visitors alike, known for its elevated cuisine, fresh ingredients, and warm hospitality. Building on that success, the team will open HCH (Harvey Cedars House) in Spring 2026—an all-day dining spot offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Kimberly’s love for travel and hospitality began early. Her mother owned a travel agency where Kimberly worked until starting her own family. That experience shaped her lifelong passion for creating warm, welcoming environments. Now, the DiDonatos bring that same spirit of community and comfort to The Seagate. “Our focus is to provide a relaxing vacation experience with the homey feel of a private villa,” Kimberly explains. “We blend the comfort of a personal residence with thoughtful service and attention to detail, creating a peaceful and memorable stay for every guest.”
The Seagate caters to a wide range of travelers, including families, couples, girls’ trips, and solo adventurers. What makes it stand out is not only its prime location near Grace Bay Beach but also the private, tropical gardens that surround each villa, along with its intentional mix of resort-like amenities and cozy, residential charm. Designed with relaxation in mind, each villa features modern interiors, full kitchens, and private outdoor spaces, allowing guests to enjoy resort-style amenities while maintaining the privacy and comfort of a residence. “Turks and Caicos is known for its safety, five-star resorts, and high-end dining options,” says Kimberly. “We want to keep creating memorable experiences that feel both elevated and personal.”
Looking ahead, the DiDonatos plan to grow The Seagate thoughtfully, staying true to their original vision. “Our goal is to continue growing in the hospitality world while maintaining a resort-style feel with a home setting,” Kimberly says.
They also hope this venture becomes something lasting—not just for their guests, but for their family. “We hope The Seagate becomes something our daughters will want to continue one day,” Kimberly adds.
At the heart of The Seagate is a simple mission: to create a peaceful, welcoming environment that feels like home.
